UNBOXING: PageHabit October Box

Welcome to my very first book subscription box unboxing featuring PageHabit!

What is PageHabit? PageHabit is a book subscription box which offers two plans:

  • Monthly – where one annotated book is delivered to you every month including a bookmark and other booking goods. You can choose from different genres such as Literary Fiction, Mystery, Fantasy, Young Adult Fiction, Romance, Horror, Historical Fiction and Science Fiction.
  • Quarterly – where one annotated book is delivered to you every quarter with a whole lot of other curated goods. The genres you can choose from for this box are Literary Fiction, Young Adult and Cookbook.

Also, with each subscription and post / share / unboxing photos over social media tagged with #mypagehabit, PageHabit makes a donation to the current month’s chosen organization to help get books across the globe. You can learn more about it here.

This is my first time joining a book subscription box so I went with a genre I was more comfortable with: Young Adult Fiction. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Excited because I get a new book after I was told not to buy any at the moment because Christmas is coming up. Nervous because I don’t know if I will like the book in my box.

As per their monthly box description, my box came in with PageHabit’s October book, a book mark, and other bookish items. However, I ordered mine after winning a giveaway which allowed my box to have an extra book in it, and a discount on shipping.

Left to right: A lochness monster (atleast I hope that what it is) loose leaf tea steeper, a jack-o-lantern key chain (green button at the top is a switch – it lights up and makes a sound), a pen that looks like a quill.
How adorable is this pillowcase designed like a library borrower’s card?
The card on the left is an information card which shows how you can get $10 off of your next box. On the back of it is all the information regarding this month’s organization which PageHabit will be donating to. The card on the right is the bookmark I got in my box which has an Albert Einstein quote in it.

Now on to the books!!!

This month’s Young Adult Fiction fiction pick is Last Star Burning by Caitlin Sangster. I honestly haven’t heard about this book or author but I am excited to read this after reading the small blurb on the inside of the cover.
I love the annotations all over this copy.
My box also came in with two more books. The Murders of Molly Southbourne by Tade Thompson which seems a bit terrifying but intriguing; and Help Me Follow My Sister Into the Land of the Dead by Carmen Maria Machado where the main character sets up a Go Fund Me page to help find her sister.

I have not started reading any of these book as I’m writing this post. However, I will sure let you know what I think about them when I do.

Have you tried book subscription as well? What do you think about them? And more importantly, what do you think about their curated book / books per month? 🙂
