BLOGMAS | Holiday Movies I’m Enjoying This Year

blogmas201712

What is Blogmas? Blogmas or Vlogmas is when bloggers / vloggers upload a post or video everyday counting down to Christmas. I’m participating in Blogmas this year. However, instead of posting everyday until Christmas I will be posting for 12 days which will be spread out in 24 days counting up to Christmas.

One of the things I love about the holiday season is the number of Christmas movies that come out, be it on tv or Netflix. W Network has this thing where for a certain period of time, it will show back to back Christmas movies and I simply can’t get enough of it. Unfortunately though, only a few of these movies catch my attention to a point where I’m willing to keep them in our PVR just incase they don’t air them again next year.

TV Movies:

  • The Christmas Calendar – A lawyer turned baker moves back to her hometown when her grandmother passed away. She is faced with either selling the house, or her grandmother’s bakery. Amidst all this, a mysterious Christmas calendar appears in her bakery which stirred up rumours about her having a secret admirer.
  • The Sweetest Christmas – A woman who accepted a temporary reception job enters a gingerbread house competition in the hopes of making her dream in to a reality.
  • Snowed-Inn Christmas – My favourite this year so far. When two journalists are given the same assignment, they both fly to Aspen to write an article to save their jobs. But when a blizzard causes their plane to make an emergency landing in Santa Clause, Indiana they are forced to look for the “Christmas magic” in this foreign place to save their jobs and their hearts.

Netflix:

  • Christmas Inheritance – A next-in-line CEO is given the task of delivering a box of Christmas letters to a small town in her father’s behalf. The only downside is she needs to hand-deliver it to the recipient, while going incognito and with only $100 in her pockets to understand what it’s like to begin with nothing.
  • A Christmas Prince – A journalist accidentally goes undercover as a tutor to find the scoop behind Aldovia’s future king. I am aware of the backlash this movie has gotten but sometimes, cheesy movies like this are so bad you can’t help but watch it over and over.

Last Year’s Favorites: These two were my favorites from last year. We lost our old PVR so I’m re-recording these both. So far, we only have A Christmas Melody. I’m hoping they air Family For Christmas this year too.

  • A Christmas Melody – An LA designer moves back to her hometown with her daughter and they both discover the power of a Christmas wish.
  • Family for Christmas – A woman’s life turns upside-down when her Christmas wish she didn’t know she wanted comes true. In the process of getting her old life back and maneuvering the one she is currently in, she realizes why the wish took effect in the first place.

I do enjoy watching these over and over. They’re cheesy, yes, but it does give off that holiday feeling we’re all excited about.

Now, I’m going to head off and watch a movie or two.

Have yourselves a Merry Christmas! 🙂

BLOGMAS | I Made A Christmas Baking Notebook

One of my favourite things about the holidays is knowing that for a few days before Christmas, the house is going to smell amazing. My mother-in-law and I would bake lots of treats not only to serve on Christmas Eve and/or Day, but also to give out as presents for our friends and family. It always gets a bit hectic especially when you have a long list to bake and with only two people to make them. Top that with trying to finish, cool, and store them before they get eaten. We started a little late this year so were taking advantage of every spare time we can. It also doesn’t help that  were pretty much running out of freezer space.

What I noticed this year is there are certain treats we make every year. It’s not even a question of if we’re making them, it’s more of when. My mother-in-law have her recipes written out on index cards, while I don’t have anything. Some of the holiday treats I make is online so I just look it up whenever I needed to make them. This, I found out, is a terrible idea. I had to skim through at least 6 Food For The Gods recipes before I found the right one. So I decided this year, I will make myself a baking notebook containing treats we usually always make during the holidays to spare us the time of going through all the cookbooks, magazines, and online recipes. I have a spare traveller’s notebook insert so why not, right?

So far, I only have four recipes in it: my mother-in-law’s Sugar Cookies and Shortbread Refrigerator Cookies; and a Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie and Food For The Gods which I found online. I can already tell it will be a growing list.

As I’m writing this we still have about 4 or 5 treats to make. If you’re also doing some holiday baking this time of the year, good luck and have fun. 🙂

My box came in a few days ago, and boy was I a bit frustrated. It took forever to get here. The DHL tracking doesn’t help either because it wasn’t being updated in real-time so I was not sure at all when I’m getting my package. I’m glad it finally did.

My box this month pretty much have almost the same contents as my previous box minus the extra book.

Left to right: A bookmark with a quote from Diane Duane; another bookmark which also works as a magnifier; a lightbox keychain (letters sticker included); and a tote.

Here are this month’s books / reading materials:

pagehabitnovemberunboxing3
This month’s short story in partnership with Great Jones Street is The Truth About Owls by Amal El-Mohtar which is about a girl who has a fascination with owls.

This month’s book pick is Haven by Mary Lindsey. The two-paragraph blurb in the dust jacket seem intriguing. I haven’t even read last month’s book pick yet, LOL.

I don’t know if I will continue to subscribe to PageHabit after  two boxes. I have time to think about it, so I will let you know what I have decided.

Have you tried book subscription as well? What do you think about them? And more importantly, what do you think about their curated book / books per month? 🙂

When Taylor was born, I knew right then and there that we will be taking her to get her picture taken with Santa that year. We were also aware of how terrifying Santa must look to a baby who has never seen him before so we were prepared to come home with a full blown crying baby picture.

#5daystilchristmas #Christmas2016

A post shared by Yvaneich A (@yvanagno) on

I thought it would stop there. A few days after, I picked up a frame ornament at Michaels. I was only planning on framing her first Christmas / first year with Santa but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I wanted to keep doing it until my kids doesn’t feel like taking pictures with Santa anymore.

My husband even suggested having it as a family photo for the kids to look back on when they get older.

This is our fourth year doing this all with Taylor. Next Christmas season, we will be doing all of this with 2 kids.

I can’t wait. <3

BLOGMAS | My Current Winter Skincare Routine

My skin is weird. I have oily / combination skin. However, come winter time my skin gets a bit dry to where it’s noticeable but not uncomfortable. I take advantage of this season to really hydrate my skin as doing it during the rest of the year makes my skin oilier.

blogmas201781

My morning skincare routine
I have a pretty quick morning routine as all I do is “wash” my face using Bioderma Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution. I then proceed to apply my moisturizer with SPF in it. I use the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. I love this moisturizer because it doesn’t leave my skin greasy compared to the other ones I have tried.

My night time skincare routine
I usually start of by washing my face. If I have make-up on, I take those off first then wash my face.

A favorite that I use all the time is Lancome’s Creme Radiance facial wash. You don’t need a lot of it and it leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. Every 2 or 3 days, I will use my St. Ives Apricot Scrub to exfoliate my skin.

I have also started using a vitamin C serum to help event my skin tone. I purchased Maritime Naturals Professional Anti-Aging Serum a month ago and it’s been working great for me. It smells like oranges, but doesn’t irritate my skin. It has also helped in lightening my dark spots. I mean they’re still there but they’re a lot lighter now compared to when I started using this serum.

For moisturizer I am currently using my Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. I got it from a mini set last year. This stuff is amazing. It’s thick so you don’t need a lot of it. However, it spreads nicely on my skin and doesn’t feel heavy. Plus it doesn’t irritate my skin at all.

My skin care routine for the past few weeks have been pretty simple as what I’m mostly concerned about is getting the dirt and grease off of my skin. I don’t have a lot of time spend on my self so being able to find a quick morning and night time routine is essential.

What about you? Do you ave a skin care routine specifically for this season?
